practical details
On this page you will find information about seeing me for the first time, how I set fees and why I don't accept insurance or credit cards.
Please contact me if you have questions or would like more information.
thirty-minute consultation
If you are a first-time client, you can meet with me for thirty minutes without charge to ask questions and learn more about my counseling approach. I want you to be comfortable with me and what I do before we begin working together.
income-based fees
The cost of counseling is an issue for many people. To help make working with me more affordable, I offer an income-based fee to all of my clients. You are free to choose either my fixed or income-based fee when paying for sessions.
insurance
I don't accept insurance payments. If I did, you would lose control over what we work on, how many times you can see me and who has access to your counseling records. Taking insurance payments also means charging higher fees to cover the time I would spend on insurance paperwork and administration.
credit cards and paying for counseling
I don't accept credit cards and ask that you pay with cash or by check at the beginning of each session. This keeps my costs low so I can make counseling affordable for more people.
